Life style
appeal/ Brand identity
This is when
business will try to produce and advertise products which appeal to the
public's life style and the way they live their life. Also brand identity
is what the business is known and recognised by the public.
Characteristics
There are different types of characteristics that
describe advertising. One of these is the unique selling point. This means that
the commercials that the business uses, makes a proposal to the customer, it
must be something that the other businesses don’t offer and it needs to be
suitable and up to a professional standard so it is able to get new consumers.
Advertisements with good unique selling points sell more products which they
make more profit and have more revenue coming into the business.
USP (Unique
selling point)
A unique
selling point is when a business tries to sell a product in a unique way which
attracts more customers. This is something which the other businesses don’t
have; this is done to attract more customers and audience. An example of an USP
would be Chosen by Voters which is by Tesco’s this shows most of people prefer
Tesco’s as an outstanding business and would purchase their products from the
business.
Slogan
A slogan is
what every professional business will have to attract their customers. An
example of this would Tesco is every little helps, this attracts
customers. This persuades customers to purchase goods from the business which
helps the business make profit and have revenue coming into the business.
Important factors
1: Advertising helps the business make profit.
This is important because every advertisement
produced is so the business can sell the product and make profit. That’s the
number one aim so it’s the most important.
2: There are 20,000 jobs in the advertising
industry.
This is also important because this provides jobs
for people and helps them with their wages. Also it helps the government
because there are less unemployed people so they don’t have to give benefits.
3: Advertising makes us loyal to brands.
4: Advertising makes us aware of different brands.
Smoking advertisement (Craven ‘A’)
This is advertising and promoting cigarettes and
persuading people to smoke. This product claims that smoking is better for your
throat when it’s clearly not because this advert is from the 1930s and back
then they didn’t know if smoking was harmful or not. This is portraying a
wealthy lifestyle because on the image it shows that a woman is taking a
break form a tennis match and it costs money to be part of a tennis club or its
use a professional tennis court. The company can’t make the same claim now
because people know that smoking is harmful and even knowing this people still
smoke by choice.
Maltese’s
This is adverting chocolate. This advert claims
that that eating this will help you keep slim. This is portraying a romantic
and happy life style because on the cover it’s a female and a male and they are
sharing the Maltese chocolate.
Company Names/ Logo
What do they tell us about the company or the
product? Colour/Shape/ Font
The apron on
the logo is a connotation that it involves food. The red background helps the
logo stand out and eye catching for its target audience. The text type makes it
easy to read and the font style connotes that it’s for adults and kids because
it straight and simple, it’s bold and eye catching. Also it looks professional
which means it will attract more customers.
The castle in the logo suggests that it’s for kids.
Also the font is designed in a way so it attracts kids up to where it says
‘’PICTURES’’ that style is different because it’s for adults. This is a good
technique because it attracts both kids and persuades adults to take their kids
to the location as a family.
The horse on this logo is the most important thing
because it’s a connotation that this bank will go the extra miles to give you
the perfect service and financial help. Also horses are tall and large
animals which connote power. This will attract customers and give them a good
reason to join the bank.
