Research anti-smoking advertisements New

Anti-Smoking Advert

In the anti-smoking advert the colours used are grey and black. This is because it shows that shows that the man has very little life left in him and he can barely speak. The sounds that are used in the advert are diegetic because you can only hear the person talking and heavily breathing. The target audience for this advert are people who smoke and people who want to start smoking because it shows the consequences and after watching the advert they will have second thoughts about it. The advert is trying to advertise the effects of smoking and trying to help the smoker. In the advert it shows the man talking about what happened to him and what became of him after and he only lived 10 days after the advert was made. The signifier for this advertises is a tube attached to his nose this signified that he is seriously ill and needs life support.

The camera shots that are used in this advert are all close up shots and there are other types of shots in the advertisement until the end where it shows you a page with the NHS contact which was a call to action page. It uses techniques like heart string which make the person watching feel sorry and emotional and makes you realise the consequences.

Government release new hard-hitting anti-smoking advert

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhuHeI4H00Uin this advert it shows a dark and gloomy room and white smoke which is an effect and the room has pictures and coloured panting hanging on the wall. The target audience for this advert is parents who smoke and guardians who look after young kids. In the advert there is a child sleeping and mum is standing outside the room smoking but the smoke from the cigarette comes back into the room even though she is smoking outside to prevent them from happening.

It’s advertising a smoke free kit which you can get by texting because it’s easier to text instead of talking to the health employees and some people might not feel comfortable talking or asking for advice. The pictures and painting in this advert is the signifier and it’s trying to signify that it’s a normal family home. The camera shots in this advert are close ups on the child’s toys and the sofa as well as his feet and hands but also there's long shot of the child sleeping with the smoke around him.

Smoking: I wanna be like you

The advertisement technique they used for this ad is family fun this is because the song which is used in this advert 'I wana be like you' which is from the jungle book which shows it’s for the whole family. The target audience for this advert is parent and guardians who smoke in their homes or near their children. The camera shots in this advert are long shots where it shows the family in different backgrounds.

The colours that are used in this advert are mostly bright colour which shows the family having fun. There is a non-diegetic sound at the end of the advert which a voice is informing you about smoking. The plot of the advert is it shows the adults in the family doing their everyday work and the kids in the family copying them and at the end of the advert it shows the mum smoking and the child copying her with a pen.

Conclusion anti-smoking

In conclusion I think all three of these adverts are good. This is because they all inform you about the danger and consequences of smoking. The first advert is good because it shows the consequences of smoking and what you can do about. In the advert it shows that it’s too late for the man to do anything so the advert is trying to show that don’t leave it too late. In the second advertisement it shows that even if you do smoke doesn’t smoke near children and even if you think your smoking outside of room where the children are the smoke and the effect is still carried out to them.

This advert is trying to show that parents shouldn’t smoke anyway near their children’s. Lastly the third advert is trying to show that if you smoke you children and family is likely to smoke too so this persuades the smokers to really think about it and quit smoking. In my opinion I think the third advert is the best one because it get the point across clearly and gets the audience to really think about it quit smoking.

My opinion is that joyful adverts are more successful than the persuasive adverts. This is because they are remembered more by the audience who it’s aimed at because they hardly contain any important but boring information about the product which they are trying to advertise. For example the Cadbury Gorilla advert is a joyful advert. This is because it’s produced for amusement purposes only and it doesn’t contain any information about the product.

The advertisement has a gorilla that is playing drums and with the song ‘In the air tonight’ which is by Phil Collins. The advert focuses on only entertaining the audience which is a good technique because they will remember the advert. This is the reason why prefer joyful adverts because they are hard to forget.

Persuasive adverts have less effect on the audience because they require the audience’s concentration.  This is because the advert includes the information about the products which is being advertised and this is difficult because the audience will take in the information and the keywords. Persuasive advert don’t use that many images because they include information, so could get boring for the audience.  For example persuasive adverts would be like lawyers adverts and other health related adverts which require concentration because they are informing you about the service or ass product.

In comparison to joyful advert, they don’t include much information about the product or how to use it which means that the audience can watch and understand it without any difficulty. On the other hand persuasive advert do have some positives such they include lots of information about products which is good because some people might not know what to do when someone has a stroke or cancer. But persuasive don’t have as much impact on the audience as joyful adverts because it attracts the audience more and they include some useful information.
